A well-known
Brit in the crypto world has strongly denied claims he is Bitcoin’s creator,
following a new spike in speculation about his status as the currency’s
creator.
Adam Back, one
of the early developers of Bitcoin, publicly responded after a New York Times
report, which suggested he could be Satoshi Nakamoto. The theory quickly drew
interest from the crypto community, breathing life into one of the internet’s
oldest mysteries.

Is Adam Back Really Satoshi Nakamoto
However, Back
rejected the claim as an example of ‘confirmation bias’, where conclusions are
tailored to suit previously held beliefs. On X, he said: “I’m not Satoshi.” “I
have been interested in cryptography, privacy, and digital cash systems for a
long time.”
The New York
Times article by John Carreyrou tried to connect Back and Nakamoto's styles,
emails, and historical online activity. The report states that some statements
and technical points appeared similar, hence the speculation.
Another
question was the timing of Back’s appearance online. According to the article,
there seemed to be similarities between his habits and those of Satoshi, who
increasingly became inactive shortly after his whitepaper for Bitcoin was
published. Back pushed back on this claim as well, stating that he was actively
participating in online discussions during that period. He described the
evidence presented as a mix of coincidences and shared language among
individuals with similar technical backgrounds and interests.
Since Bitcoin’s
early days, Satoshi Nakamoto has continued to have his identity remain unknown.
Various investigations and theories over the years have continued, but to no
avail. Individuals such as Adam Back may be speculated about, but no evidence
has been found to the contrary.
The true
identity of the creator of Bitcoin remains unknown for now, but it is one of
the biggest mysteries of technology.
