History of the Hot Dog |
The reason for hot dogs becoming popular in
America is Germany. Hot dogs became popular in America because of Germany. Sausage
has been popular in Germany for a long time, which means that the people of
Germany have loved to eat sausage for a long time, and German sausages were
often eaten with buns. The people of Germany used to call sausages Dachshund
Sausage and Little Dog.
Because Dachshund
is the name of a dog species whose body is long like a sausage, that is why
German sausages were called Dachshund Sausage and Little Dog. Later, some
Germans went and settled in America and started selling sausages with buns in
America, and then, in America, also Dachshund Sauces, which we call hot dogs
today, started being liked, and it became popular in America.
German sausages
were sold from shops to pushcarts, i.e., carts. Now let us read the topic, where
did this name hot dog come from? There is a story behind it. No one is sure if
the story is true or false but this story is very popular among the people and
that story is that one day people were sitting in New York Polo Ground which is
a playground, the year was 1901 and it was the month of April, so some vendors
were doing hawking, free means going from place to place and sending things,
the vendors had a hot water tank which had Dachshund sources and those people were roaming around
and selling Dachshund hot, which means in Hindi it is very hot, red hot means
very hot, take your Dachshund sources
hot, like it happens in world, people sell hot grams, take samosas, take
potatoes, take onions, so in the same way those people were also roaming around
and selling, there was a man sitting there whose name was the New York Zonal
Cartoonist, a cartoonist is one who shows things by making cartoons in the
newspaper, he was observing the scene, how the audience was sitting and the
free Dachshund When he drew this scene
in the newspaper, he also drew Dachshund sausages, but he was confused about how to
spell Dachshund.

History of the Hot Dog |
So he wrote hot dog instead of Dachshund sausages,
hot because it was a hot dog, and dog because dachshund is a dog breed, and
then gradually from that day on, people of America started calling it Tucson
sausage. Another thing is that the Dachshund breed of dogs is German in origin;
that is, the Dachshund dog was born in Germany, and then from there it spread
all over the world.
So, Germans not only sell Dachshund sausages
in America but also Dax, and that is why people started calling the sausages
sold by Germans hot dogs as a joke. So, this was the story. Now whether this
story is true or not, no one knows, but one thing is for sure that the name dog
came because of Dachshund dog because the sausage looked just like Dachshund
dog which Both are from the story, whether Teddy Gan wrote Dog in place of Dachshund
or people started saying it jokingly, so that's all for today,
